In Oct 7, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce and the General Administration of Quality Supervision and Quarantine jointly issued a notice which state the upper limit of melamine in milk product. For infant formula, the maximum level is 1mg/kg. As for other formula that contain more than 15% milk, the maximum level is 2.5mg/kg. Any product exceed this level will be banned. In Oct 8, the Ministry of Health held a special press conference explaining that it will be rather impossible for food products to have zero percent melamine because of contamination during packaging process. High spirit baby invited readers to comment on the policy in bbs.clzy.cnUser high-spirit noticed the contradiction in the government's statements:

During the quality check earlier on, the government said that there were many corporate products haven't been contaminated by melamine, how come it now states that
melamine is inevitable? If it is really inevitable, how come so many corporates achieve zero melamine before?Isn't it contradictory?Let's take a step backward. If melamine can
enter the food product through the industrial environment and packaging process, how come it is illegal for milk farmers to add melamine while other forms of contamination become legal? If there is
something wrong with the production environment, deal with it, if there is something wrong with the packaging, deal with it. This is the right way to solve the problem.

If industrial chemicals can enter the food product with legitimation, how can we have the confidence to buy food product? Do we have to sacrifice our body and health for a
rich material life and development? We need a high morality in food industry, not a greedy heart.

This news is too hilarious, I want to ask the ministries, is this really international practice? or it is Chinese way of handling thing?
Ran Yunfei interprets the
joint statement as a legalization of Chronic murder. In the comment section of Ran's article, Da Ren You Da Leng
suggests that:为äºå¤§å®¶æ´å¥½å°å"åº"äº"é¨å§"çå·å¬ï¼å¼ºç建议äº"é¨å§"è¦å'ï¼æ¯å¤©ï¼å¨ä¸å¤®å°< æ°é-»è"æ'>ä¸ï¼å½"ä¼-åä¸ç'ééçä¸èæ°°èºæ¶²æ奶ï¼åæ-¶å¿ é¡»ææ¹æ¬¡ç"¨ç¹åæ"åºæ¥ã身å 士å'ï¼å¤§æ¦å°±æ¯è¿ä¹åäºæ å§ï¼
In order to make this call more effective, I strongly suggest that chief officials of the ministries should drink the melamine milk in front of the daily CCTV news and
announce the product package number to the public everyday. They should stand in the front!
However Quick Sword pointed out that 2.5mg/kg is an international standard:æ®è¯´æ¯æ ¹æ®ç¾å½FDAçåæç»"æ,å¾®éä¸èæ°°èºï¼å°äº2.5PPMï¼å¯¹äººä½"æ- 害ãhttp://xys2.dxiong.com/xys/ebooks/others/science/dajia9/sanlu205.txt
According to FDA report from the U.S, a small amount of melamine (less than 2.5PPM) is not harmful to human.

Newbie wishes good luck to “made in China” milk product:ç¥å½äº§å¥¶ç²å¥½è¿Hu Mang's comment has been widely circulated in internet media. The writer points out that the Chinese government should work towards zero melamine for solving the problem:
å ³äºä¸èæ°°èºçé-®é¢ï¼ä¸åº"该æ¯ä¸åºè®¨ä»·è¿ä»·çè°å¤ï¼èåº"该æ¯ä¸åºä»âé¶âå¼å§ç审å¤ãä¹è®¸åªæè¿æ ·ï¼æ'们æè½çæ£è¿å½å æ¶è´¹è ä¸ä¸ªäº¤ä»£ï¼æè½çæ£è®¸å½å ä¹³å"ä¸ä¸ä¸ªæªæ¥ã 32;´¹è ä¸ä¸ªäº¤ä»£ï¼æè½çæ£è®¸å½å ä¹³å"ä¸ä¸ä¸ªæªæ¥ã
The issue of melamine should become a negotiation, we should start from “zero”. Only with this attitude, the government should genuinely be
responsible to the consumer and give the milk industry a future.
