Climate description: The climate is tropical with heavy rainfall. It is dominated by intense monsoon rain, succeeded by a pronounced dry season. The north coast of the island has a brief rainy season from December to February; the south coast a double rainy season from Decembee to June, with a respite in March. The mountainous spine of the island has heavy rains that feed torrential floods.
