This map shows the building density of Izmir, Turkey. The building density was derived by an object-based classification of a
QUICKBIRD scene, acquired on February 12, 2009. Different colours indicate the different building density classes with range from Â"high building densityÂ" (more than 50% of area covered
with buildings) to Â"open space/vegetationÂ" (less than 5% of area covered with buildings). Areas covered by clouds could not be analysed and were therefore marked with a hatched symbol.
Roads, railways and channels were digitised from QUICKBIRD or taken from Open Street Map and are not exhaustive.
