The British Red Cross is appealing for the millions of people suffering in Darfur, Sudan, in the midst of what the UN has described as "the
world's worst humanitarian crisis".More than two million people in Sudan's western Darfur region have been forced to flee from their homes by a horrific internal conflict. This includes around
230,000 people who have sought safety in neighbouring Chad. As the situation continues to worsen, more money is urgently needed to support the thousands of families who are now destitute. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), because of its long-standing neutrality, is one of the few organisations able to cross the frontlines of Darfur's conflict to reach and assist
people in need. The ICRC, supported by the British Red Cross, is now providing all basic services in the town of Gereida and is having to massively scale up to reach the continued needs of more
than 100,000 vulnerable people in one of the world's largest camps for displaced people. The needs are vast but the Red Cross is making an immeasurable difference. Red Cross support is
literally keeping thousands of people alive.Donations for the Darfur Crisis Appeal should be coded 804140. The address is British Red Cross, FREEPOST RLSA XLXK SXKZ, London EC2Y 9AL. The
appeal telephone number is 0845 054 7206, and donations can also be made through the appeal homepage at redcross.org.uk/darfurappealYou can
