Jun. 15 - Kosovo's new constitution has come into force three months after the fledgling country's declaration of independence.
Under the new constitution, adopted by the Kosovo parliament in April, the Kosovo government will assume many of the powers previously held by the United Nations (U.N.), with the European Union (EU) due to take on a supervisory role.
Since its declaration of independence on February 17, the Republic of Kosovo has been recognised by 43 countries but Serbia and its ally Russia oppose Kosovan autonomy.
