FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, July 21

July 21 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1900 GMT on Saturday:

* BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed six insurgents and wounded five overnight in a helicopter strike near Husseiniyah town, north of Baghdad, the military said. Iraqi police and residents said the strike killed 18 civilians and wounded 21.

* BAGHDAD - Authorities found 17 bodies across Baghdad throughout Saturday, police said. Most of the killings are believed to be part of sectarian violence.

* BAGHDAD - Four people were killed and 14 wounded in separate mortar attacks on various predominantly Shi'ite districts in Baghdad, police said.

* BAGHDAD - At least three people were killed and around 50 wounded in Baghdad when jubilant Iraqis, celebrating the national soccer team's passage into the semi-finals of the Asian Cup, fired weapons into the air causing thousands of bullets to come back down at speed across Baghdad.

* MOSUL - Gunmen killed a policeman and a civilian in a cafe in the northern city of Mosul as they were watching the Iraqi soccer team beat Vietnam in the Asian Cup quarter-final on television, police said.

MAHMUDIYA - A car bomb killed two people and wounded seven in the town of Mahmudiya, south of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - A mortar attack killed two people and wounded five in eastern Baghdad, police said.

KIRKUK - A roadside bomb wounded two policemen in the northern city of Kirkuk, police said.

BAGHDAD - The Iraqi army said it had killed 13 insurgents in the city of Baquba, capital of Diyala province.

BAGHDAD - The Iraqi army said it killed five insurgents and detained 46 in an operation in eastern Diyala, near the Iranian border. It was unclear when the operation began.

BAGHDAD - Police found 16 bodies in Baghdad on Friday, mostly victims of sectarian death squads.

BAGHDAD - A U.S. soldier died as a result of wounds suffered from an explosion near his vehicle in Diyala province on Friday, the U.S. military said.

RAMADI - Iraqi police killed four insurgents from al Qaeda in Iraq when they pursued their car on the highway in western Anbar province on Friday, police said.

KIRKUK - Gunmen killed one civilian in a drive-by shooting in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk on Friday, police said.

DIWANIYA - The body of a policeman was found after he was kidnapped in the Shi'ite city of Diwaniya on Friday, police said.

BAGHDAD - A police captain was killed in southern Baghdad on Friday, police said.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen killed one civilian and wounded three when they opened fire in a southern Baghdad area, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb aimed at an ambulance in southern Baghdad wounded four civilians, police said.

MAHMUDIYA - Mortars killed one person and wounded five on Friday in Mahmudiya, police said.

KIRKUK - A booby-trapped body killed a policeman and a civilian in al-Rashad, a town near Kirkuk, police said.
